Professor Kondwani Jambo is a Research Group Leader at the Malawi-Liverpool-Wellcome Programme (MLW) and a leader in Immunology and Infection at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine. His research focuses on infections and immunity relevant to populations in low- and middle-income settings. He holds a Master of Science degree in Human Immunity (2006) and a PhD in Immunology (2010) from the University of Liverpool, United Kingdom. He completed postdoctoral training at MLW and Cornell University (USA). He is a former recipient of the prestigious Wellcome Intermediate Fellowship (2015) and currently holds the MRC African Research Leader award (2020). Professor Jambo is the current president of the Malawi Immunology Society.

Cecelia facilitates the synergy between the MLW Training and Development Program and DRSH strategies, aiming to enhance outcomes across the five academic training levels: Pre-Masters, Masters, Pre-PhD, Doctoral, and early Postdoctoral. The goal is to build sustainable and internationally competitive scientific leadership in Africa by training the next generation of researchers and scientific leaders.
Duncan leads the Hub’s communications and digital platforms, managing content development, social media engagement, virtual events, and outreach initiatives to keep researchers informed, connected, and supported throughout their career growth.
Mtundu Emily Khongono

Profile
Mtundu coordinates daily operations across key areas including finance, procurement, human resources, and travel logistics. She manages and updates databases linked to the hub’s website and stakeholder networks, oversees the coordination of events and workshops, and maintains the hub’s email accounts. Additionally, Mtundu manages office resources, supports budget monitoring, and facilitates the monitoring and evaluation of hub activities.
