Welcome to the Discovery Research Support Hub (drsh)! We are here to support early career researchers (ECRs) and mid-career researchers (MCRs) in Malawi and across the SADC region, to achieve research independence.
The hub is a Wellcome-funded initiative, aimed to support ECRs and MCRs in developing internationally competitive grant applications for Wellcome’s Discovery research schemes and other fellowship scheme applicable to lower middle income countries applicants.
The drsh utilizes a modular strategy consisting of the following key work packages:
- Fellowship Catalyst Award (up to £85,000): A general support pre-fellowship scheme (12-18 months duration) to give high-potential candidates the required research time to ensure they can prepare an outstanding application.
- Flexible Seed Grants (up to £10,000): Support designed to fund application-related activities that strengthen the feasibility, quality, and competitiveness of fellowship proposals. Increasing success rate following submission.
