Nicholas Feasey is the Sir James Black Professor of Infection Medicine at the University of St Andrews, Professor of Microbiology at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, and an NIHR Professor of Global Health. He is a clinical microbiologist and infectious diseases physician, currently working as a consultant microbiologist at NHS Fife, although he has previously held consultant positions at The Royal Liverpool University Hospital (Infectious Diseases) and Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital, Blantyre, Malawi. His research is focused on the surveillance and management of antimicrobial-resistant bacterial infection and taking a One Health approach to exploring the transmission of enteric pathogens associated with invasive disease. He has a particular focus on reducing healthcare-associated infections by developing an infection prevention and control programme in the Southern Region of Malawi. His research group uses implementation research, health economics, bacterial genomics, spatial statistics, and transmission modelling in collaboration with the Wellcome Sanger Institute and the University of Lancaster.
