Prof Stephen Rogerson

Medicine

Professor Stephen Rogerson leads a research group in the Doherty Institute studying the pathogenesis and immunity of Plasmodium falciparum malaria. His group has a particular focus on understanding the development of protective antibody immunity against malaria and characterizing protective responses, with a view to generating future malaria preventives and therapeutics. His work aims to identify the malaria proteins and the host immune responses that may be key to stopping children and pregnant women from developing severe malaria. His long-term aim is to develop either a new malaria vaccine or monoclonal antibody treatments that could help protect these vulnerable groups from malaria
